A brief video introducing public library patrons to a new ebook platform, an interactive tutorial helping high school students learn how to search databases, and a podcast series introducing copyright basics for college faculty—these are all examples of digital learning objects that libraries have created to support their communities.

By the end of this four-week course, you will explore instructional design, learning technologies, inclusive practices, accessibility, assessment, learning object maintenance, and other topics; create a detailed plan for a learning object you might deploy at your library; and, should you choose, develop and receive feedback on a prototype of your learning object. John Stawarz

John StawarzJohn Stawarz has been teaching and developing media for much of his professional career. At Syracuse University, he serves as both the online learning librarian and an instructor for an online graduate course on library planning, marketing, and assessment. He has previously served as an associate producer for National Geographic Television, a radio station news director, a university press editorial assistant/intern coordinator, and a Peace Corps teacher in Benin, West Africa. John holds an MS in Library and Information Science, an MS in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Designing Digital Instruction.

Prior to the start of the workshop, we will send participants their login instructions.
