Whether you’re considering building your own business as a library consultant, taking your programming skills into creating your own special events program company, shifting into coaching, or going in any number of other directions, there’s a LOT to learn.
This course will provide an overview of major lessons learned when shifting from occasional freelance work into full self-employment as a solopreneur. Most of it will apply to any business, but this course won’t address the added complexities of managing employees. And it’s important to note that this course is based on experience in the US. Many of the general topics apply broadly, but some details (particularly in the section on managing your money, which includes details like business structures to choose between) will be specific to the US context.
This overview is designed to give you a better understanding of what you need to think through before making this leap, with additional resources to explore in each area if you choose to start your own business.
