Building Spanish-Language Collections in Academic Libraries is a four-week, asynchronous course for academic librarians who want to better serve Spanish-speaking and bilingual communities and build more robust collections. Participants learn to assess their campus communities and current holdings, define a meaningful collection scope, and identify reliable sources for acquiring materials from the United States, Latin America, and Spain, including publishers, vendors, international book fairs, e-resources, and open educational resources in Spanish. The course is grounded in critical librarianship and equity-centered practice, and concludes with each participant drafting a collection development plan for their own library.
