As more libraries embrace the inevitability of generative artificial intelligence (AI), library instruction must adapt or be left behind. This session is designed for people who are new or uncertain about embracing AI. This course will gently guide you showing you how AI can enhance library instruction without overwhelming your current practices. You’ll learn how AI can assist in improving information literacy, and create more engaging learning experiences for your patrons. Join us to explore these new tools, and discover how AI can be a helpful ally in your library work.
Session Objectives:
1. Gain a foundational understanding of generative AI and how it can complement existing library instruction methods.
2. Discuss strategies for integrating AI into library instruction responsibly, with a focus on user privacy and data protection.
3. Create a lesson activity that integrates aspects of generative artificial intelligence (e.g. prompt literacy) into your library instruction activities.
