Preparing a dossier for promotion, and tenure for those eligible, often causes a great deal of stress centered around fears about how much is “enough.” But it shouldn’t be that way. The process will never be stress-free, but getting clarity about the expectations and having time to prioritize work that will meet those expectations can make the process kinder.
This course is designed to help demystify the review process, so that you can identify strategies that will give you the best chance of success. Each library’s criteria are different, so the focus will be on how you can get greater clarity about what is valued at your library, instead of attempting to give any one-size-fits-all advice. We’ll also discuss strategies for setting boundaries to protect your ability to prioritize those things that will count in your review, as well as practical strategies for managing your documentation.
While this course will support those who are currently preparing their dossier for full review to gain clarity about expectations and present evidence of your achievements as effectively as possible, those who still have at least a year to remedy any gaps they identify will gain the most from this course.

Angela Pashia is a leadership and career development coach with a dozen years of experience as an academic librarian. Angela's approach to coaching focuses on partnering with clients to empower them to reach their goals, whether they’re ready to take their career to the next level or feel stuck in their job and want to explore their options beyond libraries. Angela's featured group program is designed to support library leaders in developing a coaching approach to leadership, adapting the professional coaching skills that are most relevant for library leaders. Angela graduated from an ICF-accredited professional coach training program in 2023. As a librarian, Angela focused on using critical pedagogy approaches in teaching critical information literacy, mentoring colleagues, working against structural oppression within libraries, and growing as a collaborative leader. Angela published two co-edited books and several book chapters and articles on these topics. Angela’s latest book, Using Open Educational Resources to Promote Social Justice, co-edited with CJ Ivory, was published in 2022. Angela’s first co-edited book (with Jessica Critten), Critical Approaches to Credit-Bearing Information Literacy Courses, was selected as an ACRL Instruction Section, Teaching Methods Committee Selected Resource in 2020.
