We’ll look at how to create a mission and scope of collection and draft an archives policy. We’ll then delve into appraisal theory and techniques for all types of media, from textual records to electronic, and how to conduct a regional and in-house survey of possible new acquisitions. Finally, we will look at the acquisition and accessioning process for both special collections and institutional archives. Learning objectives:

  • Establish an understanding of the ethical and legal responsibilities of an archive in appraising and selecting records for the archives
