In today’s rapidly changing job market, navigating challenges and seizing new opportunities is essential. Career Readiness and Resilience is designed specifically for library workers at all career stages to empower you with the skills and mindset needed to thrive.
Throughout this four-week asynchronous course, you will embark on a transformative journey to enhance your career agility and resilience. You will learn to recognize your unique strengths, identify skill development areas, and cultivate a proactive approach to overcome the challenges you may encounter in your profession and beyond.
Course Objectives:
– Identify your transferable skills and areas for growth
– Develop essential career resilience strategies to navigate job market volatility
– Effectively communicate your strengths within the Library, Archives, and Museum (LAM) industry and beyond
Course Outline:
– Module One: Conduct a personal Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis to refine your career planning.
– Module Two: Assess and inventory your hard and soft skills, enabling you to articulate your value both within and outside the LAM sector.
– Module Three: Explore various topics and resources aimed at building resilience in your current role and the larger job market.
– Module Four: Revise and enhance your CV/Resume or career plan to reflect your professional growth and aspirations.

Lisa Cruces is an independent consultant specializing in academic libraries, archives, and organizational development. Previously, Cruces has held positions at the Harry Ransom Center, University of Notre Dame, the University of Houston, and Texas State University, as well as advisory roles for non-institutional community archives and BIPOC collectives. Cruces completed her master of science in Information Studies at the University of Texas at Austin with a focus in archives and special collections and is currently pursuing her MBA in Human Resource Management at Texas State University. Her research focuses on assessing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in academia and workplace settings.
