Storytelling with Puppets

$250.00

Dates: September 1 - September 28

Credits: 1.5 CEUs or 15 PDHs

In this course, you’ll learn how you can use puppets to engage children with storytime, how they can reach children who are neurodivergent, and how using puppets can inspire early education instructors to new heights (or thoroughly entertain a grandparent visiting from out of town). Many children’s librarians and educators unknowingly possess the tools necessary to add puppet storytelling to their repertoire. This course will unlock that toolbox and give learners the skills and confidence to implement puppet storytelling in their preschool programming.

After participating in this course, learners will:

  • Be able to identify the various developmental skills that puppet storytelling promotes in children.
  • Know the skills necessary to include puppet storytelling in their programming.
  • Be able to provide concrete examples and tips on how librarians can use puppets to enhance their storytimes immediately.
  • Have techniques for exploring regions in and out of their comfort zones that will strengthen their librarianship.
