Integrating Universal Design for Learning into Library Outreach is a transformative professional development course designed for librarians across various settings. This four-week program applies Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to enhance the equity and accessibility of non-instruction library outreach efforts. Participants will explore the intersection of UDL with academic library outreach, learning to create more inclusive and effective library programs. Each week builds on the last, from foundational UDL concepts to the development and assessment of an outreach plan. This course is ideal for librarians who are eager to foster inclusive learning environments in their libraries. Each week’s content will include readings, assignments, and discussions. The course will culminate in participants developing an outreach plan that intentionally incorporates UDL into a non-instructional library outreach effort, ensuring equitable and accessible library services.

Kristina Clement
Kristina Clement, MA, MSIS is the Student Outreach and Sponsored Programs Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor for the Kennesaw State University Library System. Kristina received her MS in Information Science from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and her MA in Italian Literature from the University of Notre Dame. She regularly works with transfer students, first-generation students, veterans, and other non-traditional populations to help them find their home in the library. Kristina has considerable presentations and publications about Universal Design for Learning in library instruction, outreach to transfer students and first-generation students, instructional assessment, and the faux-equity of the one-shot model of information literacy instruction.
