Dates: June 7 - July 4Credits: 1.5 CEUs or 15 PDHs
Everyone has a manager, but very few of us are taught how to work well with one. This four-week course helps library workers at any level build a productive, honest relationship with the person they report to. It covers understanding your manager’s priorities and pressures, adapting to different working styles, raising concerns and giving feedback upwards, and negotiating workload and priorities.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
– Map their working relationship and the expectations on both sides
– Communicate needs, ideas and concerns to their manager constructively
– Prepare for and hold a difficult conversation with their manager
– Create a practical plan for strengthening the relationship
Who should take it: library staff at any level, from front-line roles to senior leaders who report to directors, deans or boards.
