Introduction to Interlibrary Loan

$250.00

Dates: September 1 - September 28

Credits: 1.5 CEUs or 15 PDHs

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a Resource Sharing service that, by definition, offers patrons access to materials not owned by their home library. A patron makes a request, and the item shows up – but what happens in between?

The people who conduct ILL are often the unsung heroes behind countless research works, from dissertations to academic books. This four-week course is designed to give ILL Practitioners a variety of tools to help them with the treasure hunt that is often ILL work.

Sessions will focus on best practices for both Borrowing and Lending operations – covering how to leverage relationships locally, nationally, and internationally and tips and and tricks for locating items from the mundane to the highly specialized.

Designed especially for those new to the field of ILL.
