In this course, students will learn strategies for starting a library volunteer program or enhancing an existing program. Topics will include the reasons for starting a program, aligning library goals with volunteer needs, how to create job descriptions, how to find volunteers, and how to keep them.

In this course, students will learn strategies for starting a library volunteer program or enhancing an existing program. Course goals and objectives:
Tatum Preston leads the research team at CarterBaldwin Executive Search in Roswell, GA. She has extensive leadership experience in both corporate and non-profit libraries. A native of North Carolina, Tatum earned a B.A. in English from Davidson College and an MLIS from the University of Alabama. Prior to joining CarterBaldwin, Tatum served as the Library Director at the Birmingham Museum of Art for ten years, and as a Team Lead at a corporate archival agency with clients including fashion brands, professional sports teams, and Fortune 500 drug companies. Tatum is passionate about training the next generation of library professionals and has hosted over 50 interns during her career.
